Operational Guidelines for Effective Delivery of Friday Khutbah (Sermon) in the Contemporary World

In the present age, Friday sermon is seen as a veritable Islamic medium through Wilich informationand  messagecanbetransferredfromthe Imam  to the congregation (lVorshippers) and thr:society at large. A'guably, Friday sermon, if weLlprepared,subjectfocusedand articulately delivered could have positive impact on  the  socio-economic,political andmorallives  of  the  listeners. Howevel: it seenlSthat  contempormy Friday Imamsarenot  utilizing  theii-pulpitsto reformthe degeneratingsociety. It seems that Friday sermons are no longeraspiring to many listeners.  This could he prohahlydue to noticeahle loopholes  inthedeliveryof thesermon.Thus,impact  of Friday  sermon on MusLims could  largely  dependun the deliverytechniquesempLoyed by the Imam.This paper,therefore,  identifiestheartof public  speakingtechniques which an Imam couLd adopt while deliveringhis sermonin this modern age. The paper  also highlights  conciselywhat could constitute  i~npediments to effective deliveryof Friday sermon.  Consideringthe positive impact which  Friday sermon could have on Muslimsand their societyat large, the paperoffers some sug'!,cstiollsthatcould  makedeliveryofFriday  sermonmoreeffective for infomation and development.References
